News Conference/Rally Before CPUC Voting Meeting on Community Choice

February 8, 2018 at 8:30 am - 9:30 am

Please join with us and many others on the steps of the CPUC headquarters in SF on Thursday, February 8th

Local CCE’s are creating these and so much more

for a rally and press conference at 8:30 am regarding the vote the CPUC Commissioners are planning to take on Resolution E-4907.

This resolution has now been amended so as not to be quite as harmful to Community Choice Energy expansion in California but we still have serious concerns expressed in these talking points. As of 1:00 pm today CalCCA, the community choice energy association and an active party to the resolution, is recommending the Commissioners vote No because this is not the right process to use for decisions of this matter.  Things are moving fast. So, press conference is important. In addition to the listed people in this link Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks and West Hollywood City Council Member Lindsey Horvath will also be speaking.

350 Bay Area (thus 350Marin) is a legal “party” to this resolution, as we are to a related rule-making on the PCIA charge on the bills of CCE customers. We did submit our comments on Jan. 10th.  It appears the Commissioners have listened to the numerous comments that they have gotten from may groups and the public which were in opposition to the initial draft resolution. You can read the resolution HERE with most that is new at the end.

Staying for the CPUC meeting which is open to the public and starts at 9:30 am would be helpful. You can give public comment as a rate-payer on this item, though not as 350 Bay Area. It is best to register beforehand if you are sure you are going to be there and want to speak up to 3 mins – 1 min if you don’t register before. Again, register as self (or self and representing another organization that 350 Bay Area or Sierra Club which are both parties) as our comments have been “officially” submitted.  It is the 9th item on the agenda and has the number 16190 associated with it and you can say Resolution E-4907 on the form. Even if you don’t choose to comment it would show your support of community choice energy to just be in the audience when they vote, which likely will be early in the meeting as it is still on the consent agenda as #9 and, as such, is dealt with early.
