350Marin's First Community Meeting

Featured Speaker -  Andrés Soto, Richmond Community Organizer

Andres SotoJoin 350Marin for our first community meeting & potluck dinner on June 16.

Andrés Soto - a dynamic advocate for environmental and social justice – will be the featured speaker. A co-founder of the Richmond Progressive Alliance and the Richmond Organizer for Communities for a Better Environment, Andrés will discuss the increase in crude-by-rail “bomb trains” bringing tar sands crude oil to refineries in the Bay Area and how 350Marin can help with the struggle to protect communities and the Bay. He will also explain the Regional Refinery Emissions Rule and actions we can take to reject a proposed loophole that would allow refiners to increase emissions.

Andrés has also been on the front lines of the battles for gun control, youth violence prevention, elimination of police brutality and creating the Progressive Movement in Richmond for more than 30 years. He is also a working musician in the Bay Area and has played his saxophones around the world. Andrés is also a proud father of two sons and is enjoying grandfatherhood with his four grandchildren.

The evening will start at 6:30pm with a potluck dinner.

In keeping with our commitment to a sustainable planet, we're asking folks to bring their own plates and silverware and to label their food.

After the speaker we will have a discussion session and provide updates on 350Marin committees and to help plan events to engage others in Marin in rewriting the climate change narrative.

Enjoy good food, meet new people, and join together to create a better future.
